Zomes by Zomes - Long-running D.C.-area band Lungfish made their reputation with sturdy, rhythmic post-hardcore typical of the Dischord Records stable, but more than 20 years after their formation, guitarist Asa Osborne is indulging a decidedly different muse. ZOMES, his lo-fi solo project, is the wooliest of psych-folk, a hazy collection of guitar and organ meditations seen through the scrim of home recording. Hypnotic, shape-shifting songs like "Colored Matter" and the organ-based "All Together" sound old beyond imagining, like psychedelic rock recorded in the 1800s. These aren't "songs" per se--more like wordless enigmas or dusty, secret poems in sound.
